4 Jun 1976:The Sex Pistols play the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Howard Trafford and Pete McNeish (now a/k/a Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley) invited the Pistols to Manchester back in Feb. Their band Buzzcocks would've supported but don't have a bassist. @50YearsAgoLive
@50YearsAgoLive Salford Tech lab technician John Cooper Clarke, animation artist Bernard Sumner, music producer Martin Hannett, foundry worker Steve Diggle and schoolboys Stephen Morrissey and Michael Hucknall are similarly impressed. @50YearsAgoLive

The Pistols’ gig is attended by only about 40 people but makes a big impression on those present. Council clerk Peter Hook decides he’ll buy a bass guitar tomorrow. @50YearsAgoLive
The sleepy desert town of Las Vegas, Nevada is seeing an unprecedented volume of tourism as up to five cars per day pass through the city now, and sometimes a bus.
The population of Las Vegas is only 2,400, and they have no clue how they will accommodate so many visitors.
We're going to have to repeat a lot that many Jewish people don't support Israel's genocide.
Criticism of the Israeli Government and their war crimes has nothing to do with who is or isn't Jewish.
To conflate them like this is both harmful and antisemitic.

@100YearsAgoLive Spofforth died in Long Ditton, Surrey, just across the Thames from Hampton Court. He'd lived in England since marrying his wife Phillis in Derbyshire in 1886. He'd been looking forward to this summer's Ashes series, having inspired "The Ashes" back in 1882.
Not content with taking the p!ss with ticket prices and the rest of it, FIFA are now endangering people's health. Feel so sorry for those who follow their national team everywhere, they're being ripped off to the Nth degree.https://t.co/vTvfGkgNhO
@50YearsAgoLive as portrayed by @JimHowick in this great excerpt from Horrible Histories. (A working knowledge of Take That songs is useful here...) https://t.co/g5TiE64BLV
3 June 1976: 1st Test, day 1. It looks ominous for England at Trent Bridge as the West Indies end the first day of the series on 274 for 2, Viv Richards 143 not out and Alvin Kallicharran 52 not out. @50YearsAgoLive https://t.co/hlKKbnJFMl

One of the four surviving copies of the 761-year-old Magna Carta arrives in Washington, DC on loan from the United Kingdom as part of U.S. Bicentennial celebrations.
A delegation led by British Lord Chancellor Lord Elwyn-Jones presents the document to Speaker of the House of Representatives Carl Albert.
It’s the anniversary of England beating Italy in Le Tournoi in 1997.
Features a fine @IanWright0 finish. And the back spin on the pass from Scholes is saucier than Hugh Hefner’s memoirs…

It’s Piggott’s 7th Derby win, 22 years after his first, and puts him out on his own as the jockey with the most Derby winners.
