Launch of the Implementation of the Project on “Fostering environmentally and socially responsible, decarbonized, inclusive, and transformative value chains for energy transition minerals in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region” at Radisson Blu Hotel, Lusaka, Zambia, 2nd June 2026.

The main objective of the launch event is to officially inaugurate the implementation phase of the regional CETM value chains project and strengthen stakeholder engagement, coordination, and ownership.

From boardrooms to factory floors: @ECA_OFFICIAL together with Mauritius’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade and the @EDBMauritius visited Firemount Textiles Ltd to witness green industrialisation in action under the #AfCFTA.

With over 3,500 employees, production capacity of 1 million units annually, and a fully integrated production system, Firemount is demonstrating how sustainability, innovation, value addition, and job creation can drive Africa’s industrial transformation.

@ECASROSA Director, @EuniceKamwendo described the company as “a real example of a green value chain in action,” highlighting Mauritius’ growing role in advancing circular economy and sustainable manufacturing across Africa.

Discussions focused on advancing green industrialisation, circular economy approaches, sustainable trade, and regional value chains in Southern Africa.

Mr D. Luximon commended ECA for convening a timely and strategic dialogue aligned with Mauritius’ development and regional integration priorities, reaffirming Mauritius’ commitment to working with ECA and partners to translate workshop recommendations into practical actions that support industrial competitiveness, value addition, and sustainable development.
