MSU Esports is a great program with amazing support from both our institution and community. ECA is proud of the talent and hard work that goes into the esports program here and we are rooting for the growth and development of UofM Esports. Go Green go blue!
Good afternoon!
First, we want to thank you all for the interactions, support, and feedback.
Competitive gaming and esports has been around at Michigan since 2011-12 as “Arbor Esports”, and over the last 13 years the students have done everything we can to get a gaming facility on campus, so we can continue to grow our student ranks program and foster community around gaming on campus.
In 2018-19, Rec Sports sponsored our organization, which allows us to use the Michigan name and branding, as well as accept tax deductible gifts.
With research showing that 65%+ of students in college are regular gamers, it is fair to assume that a communal place where students of different backgrounds but similar interests in gaming can come together, would be nothing but a success on a campus such as @UMich with our 50,000+ student body. We also firmly believe that a space like this could support the mental health and wellbeing of students, and potentially give them an opportunity to be involved in campus that they previously didn’t have.
We truly commend @michiganstateu for their support of @EsportsAtMSU and @ECAofMSU programs at their school. MSU, along with 15 other Big Ten institutions, support their students with a space and funding support.
While this may have seemed like an admission to defeat, rest assured that we are not done with this fight. We will continue to push for Michigan to serve all students on campus, and that includes the gamers and our community.

We as the Esports Club Association at MSU want to make clear that we do not condone this behavior and do not support this individual representing Esports at Michigan State University in any capacity.
I’m sorry but this behaviour of threatening people shouldn’t be allowed @michiganstateu@EsportsAtMSU how does your college allow such people like @akamaisolution to be in your college. Hoping someone gets murdered and SAed is not okay by any means
