๐๐ค Pink & Black for Peace: Thursdays in Black ๐ค๐
Today, we wore black and pink to honour Pink October standing in solidarity against gender-based violence while promoting peacebuilding and healing.
๐ Take action:
Schedule your breast cancer screening โ early detection saves lives.
Support survivors and create safe spaces for healing and dialogue.
Stand for peace in your community, every day.
Together, we wear our colors for courage, awareness, and change.

What began as dialogue on peacebuilding has grown into practical action through a community garden that addresses idleness, food insecurity, and strengthens livelihoods.

๐ฟ Youth Voices Rising in Bikita: Reclaiming Peace Amid Crisis
Yesterday, we convened 70 young people in Bikita for a one-day Youth Engagement Session โ a powerful space where voices long silenced spoke freely about peace, identity, and the challenges facing our generation.
In collaboration with the local community, Vushe Primary School, and Chirumba High School, we ensured that learners as young as 12 joined the conversation โ a reminder that peace education must begin early if we are to build resilience that lasts.
As one #youth grievingly shared,
โFailure to get drugs is a conflict driver.โ
This simple yet painful truth exposes the urgency of addressing drug and substance abuse โ a crisis that continues to steal peace from many young people. Some even arrived under the influence before 8:30 AM, a stark signal that our interventions must go beyond talk.
From body shaming to the โ#2K mantraโ culture, and the struggle to be heard when reporting abuse, the youths painted a vivid picture of what robs them of peace daily.
This engagement was more than a dialogue โ it was a mirror reflecting the realities our youth face and a call to action for all peace actors, educators, and communities to listen, support, and respond with compassion and urgency.
๐๏ธ Peace education is not optional โ it is essential.
Letโs continue creating spaces where young people can speak, heal, and lead change.

When youth talk about peace, they also talk about bread ๐โjobs, dignity & survival.
In Pelandaba-Minyela, young people named poverty, drugs & unemployment as threats to peace, and drafted solutions: skills, innovation & dialogue. โ

Earlier this year, on 13 Feb 2025, with the help of Mennonite Central Committee we facilitated a community dialogue at Mkhayeni Primary School. Stakeholders from MOPSE, community leaders, SDC, BEAM & parents came together to address urgent issuesโunsafe infrastructure, unpaid fees, and strained teacher-parent relations.
The dialogue emphasized that peacebuilding and social cohesion are key to reviving education and community resilience. In line with our โPeace and the Bodyโ pillar, we recognized that a broken learning environment harms not only the mind but also the wellbeing of children and teachers.
Importantly, the session produced tangible outcomes:
*Drafted village-level action plans.
*Formation of focal groups to work with leaders & SDC.
*Agreement to hold village meetings as the first step.
*Clarity and transparency on school funds.
*Parents encouraged to pay fees in installments, with leaders supporting follow-up.
*Proposal for a โMeet the Parentโ program to strengthen parent-teacher collaboration.
Together, the community is taking practical steps to revive Mkhayeni Primary and restore dignity, health, and hope for learners and teachers alike. ๐๐
