"We are reviewing the curriculum to put arts and music back at the heart of the national curriculum where it belongs." @lisanandy
We welcome the Culture Secretary's commitment to arts education. Meaningful reform is urgently needed to address and reverse years of decline.
I couldn’t agree more and music is a part of all this. Let’s hope the PM can deliver this for our young. If there are State Schools (my grandson is in one in S London) which properly deliver The Arts, why not all? It’s not even aspirational, it’s surely mandatory.
Delighted to top The Times' league table for A-level results.
Congratulations to our students and staff for their hard work in making this possible.

Congrats to the Class of 2024 for their superb A level results. Across Maths, Further Maths & Physics A Levels, students achieved a record-breaking 76% A*, 97.6% A*-A and 99.5% A*-B grades.
One student even achieved the top mark in Further Maths nationally!
So proud.
All schools (including academies) required to follow the national curriculum - this means ALL schools must teach music. It’s a no-brainer, of course, but worth celebrating nonetheless. https://t.co/Vm6MRRvPWk
If you're planning for the new Year 7 intake in September, are you focusing on the right kind of knowledge? Being unable to verbally declare that 'there are two quavers in a crotchet' and that 'this is called a treble clef' does not define a new pupil's 'musical knowledge'.
A reminder. The ambition of the National Curriculum isn't simply giving opportunities to play, sing, compose & listen. It's about gradually improving technically, building knowledge of how music works, & becoming more sophisticated expressively from Years 1-9. It's a long game.
My first cohort to go all the way through from Year 7-13!
An amazing group of people- I couldn’t be prouder of all you’ve achieved and how you’ve grown in confidence and musicality over the last seven years.
So proud of everyone performing in this concert @StAlbansAbbey : the orchestra and choir have worked so hard this term to get the @johnmrutter Magnificat learnt and it’s been an absolute joy working with them!
If you haven’t yet got your ticket for tomorrow night’s Joint Schools’ Concert with @STAHS & @SASHerts, there is still time!
Only 30 tickets now left!
Get yours before we sell out!!!
@CVMSMusic Barnados!
Think sadly it’s the only one that exists now in this country. All the others: Choir of the Year, Songs of Praise, etc have gone now.
Was just musing about starting a new one for youth choirs as there doesn’t seem to be as many opportunities anymore!
Congratulations to our Senior Chamber Choir on their win last night.
As we won in 2022, I decided to give them the challenge of two double choir pieces for this competition- and they nailed it!
Super proud 🥹
We are sad to share with you the news that Oxford Brookes University has decided to close its music department. Below a statement from the music team - we are all devastated.
