I got one of my parent report replies back this morning and it said
'Child X has never been happier in school and they have never seen X so excited to learn' and that my teaching has been 'outstanding'
As an ECT1 I actually almost bawled there and then on the door π
@dumond_ed I only laminate things for the kids to use whiteboard pens on and reuse multiple times - e.g. grids for our upcoming position and direction unit. Can have a 'whiteboard' session with 0 marking, play games throughout the year using the grids for different contexts and saves paper
I'm that teacher that pure makes intentional mistakes on my notebook in every lesson so the kids get used to seeing that it's okay and can build confidence in correcting my work and now they've fully said that I must have gone to school with Tiny and that we both need to go back
@MissH_2@MrTs_NQTs When I was training, it was in our contract that the TRAVEL TIME could take anywhere up to 1.5hours (distance wasnt factored, only commute time based upon a simple Google map route). If you're using public transport tho, you can use that as extra PPA or time to watch Netflix
Please can someone explain why my class have spent three weeks talking about the Wreck of the Zanzibar, boats, storms and America, planned a story together following those themes for them to then write about picking flowers with their sister or their mums veg soup πππ
@HPearson44 Perfect, thank you! I never got any of the emails so I just had to get the ticket and location off a mentor π€¦π½ββοΈI'll go for a school outfit that I could also wear not in school and then I've ticked both boxes ππ
@revisionstation@MrTs_NQTs Yes this is a good idea, just going through some suggestions and I thought about them making labels for themselves with their birthday on!
Did my first ever meet the teacher today and one of the parents stayed behind to thank me for how well his son had settled into my class and it was just the loveliest exchange π₯°
@MissBPrimaryTe1 During ITT I had a child w/ anxiety&OCD.I gave her an emotions chart&counter to keep on her desk so I could see how she was feeling throughout the day. I also gave her a notebook to write why she was feeling xyz and used this to talk to her about her feelings. It worked very well
@zbsrt@MrTs_NQTs Our school WhatsApp is called 'important messages only' and is used exactly for that. I'm in a LKS2 GC and a chat with my TAs but they are both rarely used unless it's an important message prior to term starting. I'm very conscious of not messaging outside of working hours too!
@Misse_eyfs @SDervisevic20 @MissHannahEdu @Katy_primary97 I'm a first year ect and legally Ofsted HAVE to come this year to my school. Other staff have told me not to worry because they cannot scrutinise my teaching practice, only ask about the support the school is giving me for settling in and my professional development
Informed my y4s about the Queen, discussed her life and impact on the UK in her 70 years and asked if there were any questions. Obviously the most important question was what football team she supported π
I may have filled in all the old planning documents, and filled them in wrong at that, but I survived my first week teaching my own class and got praised on all the positive little things I've put into place this week like wellbeing charts and handwriting cards etc π₯°
I'm starting to get super anxious about school starting on Monday.
It's my first year with my own class. I don't know what to expect and I constantly feel like I haven't prepped enough π¬
