I also agree that Imu is not the type of "defeat and it's over". If you really want to "paralyze" him, you have to pay an extremely high price — possibly the life of one (or more) important people in the confrontation.

But... Our Luffy has never accepted to sacrifice his teammates to win. He always finds a way to "break the rules". Gear 5 + high-end Haki + power from friendship, I believe Luffy will defeat Imu in his own way, without anyone dying (hope Oda doesn't troll 😭).
