in sports gambling hayday youd find the one other degenerate at your family 4th of july and go full goblin mode sharing in your mutual love of the game. now your least favorite cousin wants to talk for 30 minutes about his DK pre-built SGP and mindlessly argues against anything you say. it really us no fun anymore.
Bonus fantasy football takes ahead of NFL Week 4. Stats included at no extra charge.
1. You should be patiently opimistic on Jaylen Waddle
2. You should be skeptical of Kalif Raymond
3. Chris Godwin is a decent stash in deeper leagues

apparently today was the first time christian mccaffrey ever played the broncos. seems crazy but that is a reminder that every team has an entirely unique experience playing the NFL every year. Divisions are very important schedules are very important. Two teams in different conferences play an entirely different version of the NFL every season. You need to consider this in your evaluation of what you think of your football players.
The last intrigue is in Chris Godwin. I’m not saying go pursue him aggressively, but hes being dropped across the board and in deeper leagues you need bench stashes. we are all feeling WR depth pain because WR depth is painful.
Godwin’s truth is as follows:
1. he was a negated-by-penalty long TD catch in week 3 away from having top 40 production to start the season.
2. Baker is still a solid gunslinger even if the emotional fans wanna be big crybabya through 3 bad games coming off a big contract extension. when he returns the offense will start to generate some fantasy points, even if not elite.
3. Emeka Egbuka has been aweful. Its very possible hes mid, or even bad. If the buccs want any juice they may need to lean heavily on whatever vigor is left in Godwin soul.
through 3 games, Godwin has:
a disgusting 11% target share
BUT
a 50% slot rate, 78% route rate, 96 routes run (20th overall) and a 77% snap share.
he only has 6 first read targets.
I agree he is probably washed but the offense was a huge jumbled mess. If they fire Bowles and decide to bump Godwin up to 20%+ targets, his role and usage will give you a back-end flex to help survive injury struggles and bye weeks. you’re flipping a coin
heads - he’swashed
tails - he’s underutilized in a nice role
thats WAYYYYYYY better odds than most of your waiver wire scum.

Kalif Raymond is a hot name right now and for a lot of hot reasons. But a 5’9”, undersized, 32 year old, back-end roster, journeyman sustaining Top 30 fantasy football production has never occured before. maybe its a first time occurance but more likely it can be explained away.
The Bears first two games were littered with enigmatic, outlier occurrences. Totally unreliable data. Week 3 we saw a great performance with a line of 6-90-1 on 75% snap share and 71% target rate. this all scream “breakout”.
However week 3 had a bit of a butterfly effect moment. Rome Odunze drops an easy TD pass and leads to a series of events that forces more aggressive play call from chicago. Raymond’s entire statline was generate from a broken coverage, wide open, long, late TD score. otherwise he was seeing moreso WR committee usage, not lead WR usage.
Remember, overcome Optics, use the information you have and the logic centers of your soul.
The hope entering this season was that Burden would be the slot flanker and Odunze the X with Loveland playing a versatile tight end role. Then Burden and Odunze both spent training canp nursing injuries. that lead to Ben Johnson using a reliable veteran a bit more early on in the season, which makes sense.
Burden has been getting the promised role with 25% snap share and 51% slot rate (🤯). but his other usage metrics like target rate and first read target share are a bit jumbled. He’s been sharing the role with Raymond. Loveland has not seen the slot at all (18% rate 🤮). Odunze is the X and is underperforming but still has tons of upside. I will not tolerate Odunze slander.
Now Raymond has clearly over performed and its logical to expect him to return to the shadows from whence he came. some raymond stats:
23% tgt share and 34% slate rate but only 66% snap share and 67 route rate. not bad usage but not good enough to expect season long target dominance. his 23% target share likely falls dramatically.
25% designed targets share (19th overall) but 24% first read target share (44th). His catchable target rate is 95%, third in the NFL. He’s 8th overall in yards after the catch. his yprr seems elite but thats what big plays in a small sample does.
Kalif Raymond has benefited from wide open, layup plays making his production overshadow two stars starting slow due to younger age, offseason injury, and a still developing Ben Johnson scheme with excess QB and weather volatility through 3 games. Pump the breaks.
to build on andrew’s excellent point,
kraft and the Packers literally said it would be a slow ramp up which the ramp-up has been quicker than one should expect for his injury recovery timeline. I also was an off-season fader, but everything this week or at least everything in the weeks to come points to kraft re-breaking out and being a great fantasy football option for you. The only reason to be skeptical of kraft is because he hasn’t met fan expectations and fan expectations are about as valuable as my dog’s expectation that hes gonna get a piece if literally any food i ever try to eat.
And this is coming from someone who had Tucker Kraft in an article titled "Fantasy Football Tight End Fades 2026: Overvalued TEs to Avoid at ADP". So I'd gladly victory lap that if the numbers concerned me but I actually think Kraft is a buy-low given public sentiment.

all this negative commentary on mike tomlin having a hobby outside of football reeks of casting the first stone. im sure all the hatera have maximized every second of their lives!
I didn't wanna say anything, but now that Le'Veon opened the door... I was thinking the EXACT SAME THING... I just don't think Mike Macdonald or Andy Reid are up playing Minecraft at all hours... I think Ben Johnson, Klint Kubiak, Liam Coen these guys are sleeping at the facility, studying film at 4 in the morning... I was truly kinda shocked about this whole Minecraft thing.
