Super excited to share my project from the 2026 HALO Hackathon, Rating Forecheckers Through Spatial Tree Boosting. This was my first time working with SportLogiq data it was really interesting to see the private data side. #HockeyHALO2026

The Vegas Golden Knights second line of Brett Howden-William Karlsson-Mitch Marner played well last night. Offensively, they were able to get the puck low and generate shots. On defense, they did a fairly good job of keeping Carolina at bay

The Hurricanes top line of Seth Jarvis-Sebastian Aho-Andrei Svechnikov needs to get back on track in game 2. They struggled to create offense down low last night, but were able to get a fair amount of shot attempts from less dangerous areas
TOI: 10:04
CF%: 56.3%
xGF%: 40.5%
The Hurricanes best line during this playoff run has been the Jackson Blake-Logan Stankoven-Taylor Hall line and that continued last night. They were able to generate offense and suppress a lot of the offensive chances for the Golden Knights
TOI: 10:37
CF%: 72.7%
xGF%: 70.91%
I (and many others) feel like K'Andre Miller has been crucial to the success of the Hurricanes this postseason, and need him to perform well to win the Cup. I was impressed in game 1, hopefully he can keep it up

The Vegas PP1 shot rates was my favorite graph of the bunch because it did a good job of displaying what they had said. It is funny that I said Jack Eichel is pass only, and then he had an attempt blocked (highest dot on top plot), the shooting pattern was consistent otherwise
They also touched on the Vegas PP, specifically their PP1 composition. Jack mentioned that the shots come from Pavel Dorofeyev on the wing, maybe one early point shot from Mitch Marner, and the net-front with Mark Stone or the bumper with Tomas Hertl. Jack Eichel is pass only
This episode was a great listen! @DimFilipovic and @JhanHky did a great job breaking down the Hurricanes and Golden Knights strengths and weaknesses up and down the ice, so I did what any normal person did and decided to make some graphs!
