This approach protects younger users, allows for parental oversight, and avoids forcing millions of people to submit sensitive personal documents. This way, you don't need ID verification for children's safety and privacy can be secured
@TeamYouTube I believe there are better ways to protect minors while respecting user privacy. Here’s an alternative system that avoids intrusive ID checks:
Under 13 → YouTube Kids only
All accounts for users under 13 are restricted to YouTube Kids by default.
Parental/guardian supervision accounts If a child’s account is run by parents or guardians, the supervising adult gets a linked “supervisor” account to manage viewing permissions.
