We always enjoy working at our home campsite, Bushy Wood Activity Centre. EDSFAT had a team predominately comprising of female first aiders and we set up our First Aid point in the Activity Centre. It was a real pleasure to be providing our services to Girlguiding for a change.
The Eastbourne District Scout First Aid Team had a great time last Saturday afternoon and evening providing First Aid Support for the Girlguiding Eastbourne Division’s Rainbows, Brownies and Guides at their “We Rise Again” Event at Bushy Wood.
The day started particularly well, with Matt, the Unit Manager cooking us all breakfast, whilst being assisted by Andy.
😊
A good day providing First Aid and Medical care at another Scouting event.
Last weekend members of the Eastbourne District Scout First Aid Team attended the Chiltern 20 Challenge Hike, running out of Braidwood Scout Activity Centre – Asheridge. EDSFAT had a mixture of Health Care Professionals and First Aiders available to provide support.
At the same time, we had a second team facilitating another ‘Pop Up Mobile Vaccine Clinic’ for the NHS. Interestingly, this one was outside a pub - The Bevy at Moulescombe.
This is the 33rd ‘Pop Up Mobile Vaccine Clinic’, that EDSFAT have set up and facilitated in 2021.
Sunday had two teams of staff out. One team were at Kiteye Campsite, running Module 10B First Response Validation sessions, working with one of the East Sussex Trainers. Using EDSFAT’s Laerdal® QCPR Resusci® manikins, we could give the learners immediate feedback.
EDSFAT staff came together to provide First Aid and Medical cover for the Sussex Downsman Hike during Saturday 2nd October.
With Clinical, Communications and Support staff, we had two ambulances, a treatment trailer, treatment caravan and three support vehicles out on the course.
With three Module 10B sessions and a Face to Face session before the end of November, we are really enjoying being involved with these First Aid training sessions.
Today, members of the Eastbourne District Scout First Aid Team provided an eighth Module 10A Zoom session using the Hampshire Remote Learning presentation. This has allowed us to provide 160 training slots for adult members and leaders in East Sussex and else where.
EDSFAT were back on the BBC News today. Our vehicles are being used by the NHS to deliver vaccines for the University of Sussex students. https://t.co/g9VUVTnhPF
EDSFAT had a great day yesterday, supporting the Acorn Hike in Eastbourne. This was our first event providing first aid and medical support at a Scouting activity since the beginning of the pandemic, and it was brilliant to be back. We also ran the communications for the event.
With two team members at the “Pop Up Vaccine Clinics”, nineteen at the car parking and eight at the Validation Session, it was great to be out supporting the public and Scouting.
Next week back to First Aid and Medical cover at Scouting events!
EDSFAT have just had a very busy weekend! On Saturday we were once again supporting the vaccine rollout with one of the team’s ambulance vehicles and a gazebo as well as staff to assist. This is one of five “Pop Up Vaccine Clinics” we have already supported during September.
Sunday was even busier, once again we were at a “Pop Up Vaccine Clinic” in Brighton, parking cars at the Laughton Autumn Show as well as running a Module 10B Practical Validation Session for leaders in East Sussex with members of the County Training Team and the County SASU.
