Final day of the ISMRM diffusion workshop! Come have a chat with me about diffusion MRI and how it can help understand white matter injury in paediatric patients treated for brain tumours - from research to the clinic. ๐ง ๐ฉปโ๏ธ๐ฉบ #translationalresearch#mri#diffusion#imaging
This may mean that personalised brain assessment can help reduce neurocognitive deficits after treatment. To help implement DTI into the clinic, we have also done an analysis on dMRI acquisitions that decrease scan times from 8 to 2 min while continuing to detect WM injury! 3/3
I'm presenting 2 posters at the ISMRM diffusion workshop! Technically, I'm not presenting until Thursday, but you can still see them (147 & 148) and the preprint! We use DTI to search for white matter injury in individual paediatric brain tumour patients pre-treatment. (1/3)
We find (1) evidence of supratentorial white matter injury in posterior fossa tumour patients pre-treatment, (2) changes are different in individual patients (and changes are missed with group analyses) and (3) pre-treatment changes persist after treatment. 2/3
Day 4 ISMRM Diffusion #MRI Workshop! Today we are hearing about how we can translate research into the clinic to improve diagnostics and treatment, and use AI and big data. There is also a secret session ๐คซ on MRI and brain development! ๐ง ๐ฉป๐งโ๐ฌโ๏ธ๐งช #dMRI#science#research
Speaker 1 made a point to mention NIH repeatedly. He not only worked for NIH in the 80s/90s, but it was the main institute that developed this technique. dMRI has saved lives for 40 years. The reality of the funding freeze is that it will impact people's lives in hidden ways.
Day 1 of the diffusion MRI conference, and 10 minutes into the opening announcements we had our first mention of the disturbing activities coming out of America regarding the NIH. Speakers haven't been able to travel and had to cancel keynote talks.
Greetings from the ISMRM diffusion workshop in Japan! Coming to the end of the educational session on Day 1, it has been a great day with some top notch comparisons between katanas and diffusion signals! ๐ฏ๐ต๐ง ๐ฉปโ๏ธ๐งโ๐ฌ#diffusionmri#mri#ismrm#science # Japan
Weโre back at the beautiful @TheCrick for day two of our Annual Symposium, starting with our session on the tumour micro environment and therapy combinations. Up next, @Ale_Ferrelli_ on โDeveloping a humanised in vivo model to study myeloproliferative neoplasmsโ.

Really excited I was able to present my work at the CRUK City of London Centre and RadNet Future Leaders Symposium! I spoke this afternoon on developing a clinical diffusion #MRI scan to detect white matter changes in paediatric brain tumour patients. #CRUKCoL2025 โ๏ธ๐ง ๐ฉป๐ป๐งโ๐ฌ๐
Kicking off our paediatrics session we have @EDrabek discussing her work to design a clinical diffusion MRI acquisition

@owenjonesjourno Glad you are starting to feel better! I've had this in the past (I have acid reflux, but an antibiotic made mine worse) and could barely eat anything for around a week. Couldn't swallow food, even water was painful. Hope they find the cause and you continue to improve.
Hilarious morning of trying to teach students about gravitational collapse, stellar evolution and blackholes. The interactive white board decided to thwart my tutorial as if it were possessed. What is wrong with just a standard white board?! ๐ #PhDLife#Teaching#techfail
@DrAllyLouks Hey, I know you are probably overwhelmed by people responding to you on this site, but just know that there are many people out there who support you and think you are awesome. Your thesis looks very cool, congratulations for passing your viva! ๐๐งโ๐๐
