The IRA includes a "modeled performance" provision as part of the Homes Act. It pays for PREDICTED savings to customers.
We ran this same program in California, and we learned that it delivered only 21% of predicted electrical savings and 29% for nat gas. Let's learn...
One of the most fun and most challenging parts of being a venture investor is how loosely you need to hold almost everything you know about the world. B/c in 5 mins someone can walk in the door and show you how you had it all wrong.
Wow hope this widely available information about the Nazi origins of @adidas doesn’t go viral and cause a massive international boycott in light of their recent silence in the face of violent antisemitism by their partner Kanye West.
This shows 10ks of @ohmconnect members reducing use from 5-8pm on 9/6. Large sustained drop for 3 hours! (You can also see the device only dispatches before and after the 3 hour event.)
Remember the big statewide "amber alert" emergency text that evening? It was at 5:45pm.
During the Labor Day heat wave and grid crisis, @OhmConnect and its 200k+ CA members were absolutely to avoiding blackouts.
The top line numbers are simply remarkable: reduced peak loads by 1.5 gigawatt hours -- enough to power the entire City of San Francisco for two hours.
Great thread and article from Jigar Shah on how virtual power plants can now provide a utility-grade alternative to new generation and buildout. We're excited to be a part of this transition!
I was excited to see the PG&E/Tesla’s VPP program provide ~18MWs at peak and get paid $2 a kWh. But why did @OhmConnect customers – with their 250k smart thermostats, smart plugs, EV chargers, and (yes) batteries – get paid 22 cents a kWh? 7/10
California had its first @flexalert of 2022 last week. With over 200 MWs on standby, @ohmconnect was ready and we performed! But this also about CA’s broken #demandresponse and how we were underutilized and paid 11% per kWh of what Tesla got paid.
