Advocacy is the public support of a particular issue. Different ways to get involved could be as simple as going down to a town hall meeting, protesting, or writing a letter yo your local representative about a particular policy issue that you are passionate about.
Did you know that 1 out of 3 every black males can expect to go to prison in their lifetime ? A fact that will become many individuals sad reality. What can be done to combat this statistic and bring down this trend?

Today, we will be discussing the history of mass incarceration. Prison populations upward trend began in the 1970's. There is a spike in the prison population due to politicians from both parties use of fear and thinly veiled racial rhetoric to push a tough on crime agenda.
Mass incarceration continued to be a problem in later years due to legislation like the 1994 Crime Bill, emphasizing being tough on crime while race played a major role in these policies.
We are more than thrilled to begin this important and informative conversation. We hope to educate while also seeking different ways to deal with these problems.

Why is this important? It is important to discuss mass incarceration in order to decrease the numbers and to keep future generations out of the walls of prison.
What is mass incarceration? Mass incarceration refers to the drastic way in which the United States has locked up a vast population in federal and state prisons, as well as local jails.
