🔍 M. Paschali & P. Charalambous from @CYENSCoE have presented at #IICIRCVM the many lives that the Neophytos' Enkleistra in Cyprus has lived across the Middle Ages.

👉 The 3D modelling of the hermitage has been key to determine the evolution of its mural paintings over time.

📍 Last 14th May, @museusolsona became the centre of the #NitDelsMuseus #MuseumDay events in Catalonia. The new space devoted to the mural paintings of Sant Quirze de #Pedret opened to the public... and we were there, too!

😲 For the first time, visitors can experience #Pedret’s painting cycle as a whole and have a better understanding of its meaning.

🤓 This model depicts the historical evolution of the building, as well as the variety of mural paintings that covered it over time.

👾 Lasers!

🧰 The Catalan engineering team (@UniBarcelona & @la_UPC) has finished a laser scanning campaign in #SantaMariaAntiqua.

🔎 Data were collected with a @LeicaGeosystems RTC360 #3D scanner. Next steps will involve image & color calibration on a #3DModel of the church!

☝️ However, it’s not as straightforward as you may think. This approach faces some challenges, such as faithfulness in color and lightning. Both were commented during the closing debate of the seminar, which we concluded we shall resume soon.

🤓 Yesterday we hosted an online seminar where Massimo Limoncelli, Maria Potenza, and Laura Schepis from @unipa_it shared their knowledge and experience in #virtualrestoration of ancient and medieval #muralpaintings.

🖌️ Physical #restoration aims to preserve #heritage as it looked like in a given point in time. Virtual restoration is a unique opportunity to enhance this heritage, since it becomes easier to draw hypotheses about how mural paintings changed their appearance over time.

🔎 #Spectroscopy and Hypercolorimetric Multispectral Imaging were used to obtain images and colorimetric data for a #3Dmodel!
