The Engineer-in-Residence (EIR) Program is an engineering outreach initiative that aims to get youth interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.
A huge thank you to Michael, @ygkcommuter, for his final visit! Our class had a blast with the "Maze Runner" design challenge. Students designed and programmed Dash robots to navigate custom mazes with starts, finishes, tricky turns, and obstacles. 🦾✨ @EIRProgram
Finishing off CEW with Mr.Trevor our @engoftom resident! Today we learned about different forms of energy and explored various materials to see if they act as conductor or insulators with simple circuits. @StElizabethOCSB#ocsbbecommunity
🚗💥 From designing and building crash barriers to testing force on impact, our students engineered their way into this challenge. Michael's ingenuity even led him to create a contraption to measure crash forces in real-time! Thank you again, Michael @ygkcommuter! @EIRProgram
It’s a work in progress but my grade 7 students are designing a future city with climate change considerations, and creating their structures on TinkerCAD to print them in 3D! @TCDSB@TCDSB_Peterson @21C_TCDSB @engoftom
Thanks to Michael, @ygkcommuter, we tackled our latest STEM adventure - the Oil Spill Engineering Challenge! We explored the complexity of cleaning up disasters and the role of engineering in protecting our planet. We brainstormed solutions and made a splash! 💧🛢 @EIRProgram
Thanks to Michael @ygkcommuter, we tackled our design challenge: crafting the tallest earthquake-proof structure! Armed with marshmallows, spaghetti, & tape, our budding engineers got creative. With the help of a shaker table & ruler, we put our designs to the test. @EIRProgram
THANK YOU Chris (Engineer in Residence)for your excellent presentation. We’re excited to build our environmentally friendly cities that are impacted by climate change. @engoftom @EIRProgram @CMartyrsHCDSB @giftedgroups528 @hcdsbsteam
So many talented engineers putting their launchers to the test at @StGregoryOCSB. Thank you to Mr. Ball from @EIRProgram and the Ts for such a great experience. No pics of launchers in action, too busy having fun judging. 👷🏾♀️👷♂️ #ocsbScience
