Here’s what’s happening on a rep to rep basis during a RSA test.
Two takeaways:
☝️Research has shown as we get deeper into RSA protocols the aerobic system becomes a more relevant player in energy production.
✌️The aerobic system is the main driver in between rep recovery.
@Gareth_Sandford I’ve recently starts Speed Capacity Builder Testing & Consulting (SCB). An organization focused on providing team sport conditioning solutions to increase performance, resilience & success
Three main factors that affect RSA:
⚫️Sprinting Ability - how fast an athlete is
⚫️Sprint Energy Production - what energy systems are contributing to the outputs
⚫️Between Sprint Recovery - how quickly an athlete can recover before the next effort
RSA stands for Repeated Sprint Ability and is described as an athlete’s ability to execute multiple high intensity sprints with incomplete recovery.
More specifically, in sport, we’re typically talking about:
Sprints <6sec
Recovery <60sec

I wanted to share one model I’ve used with my College/NFL groups with great success.
There are 3 goals for this training block:
1. Prepare for the expected camp volumes
2. Build a reverse of fitness in prep for camp
3.Minimize residual fatigue while still respecting ACWR
