Lisa advised to the French boy group ADKIN, “Even if you are the youngest, you have the right to speak,” hits differently when you remember what she shared in Always LALISA.
“I did not dare to raise my voice or express my thoughts.”
Lisa started working in Korea at just 14 years old. Imagine being so young, in a foreign country, navigating an unfamiliar culture and an industry where you might not feel you have the freedom to speak up.
Perhaps that is why her advice carries so much weight. She is speaking from her own experience, giving someone else the encouragement she may have needed when she was younger.
Her words also raise a bigger conversation about hierarchy, seniority, and cultural attitudes toward Southeast Asians in parts of East Asian society. Some people have experienced prejudice or a sense of superiority based on nationality and ethnicity, although we should be careful not to generalize an entire country or culture.
What stands out to me is that Lisa is no longer just sharing her talent with the world. She is also using her experiences to encourage others to find their voices.
She knows what it feels like to stay silent, and she is reminding the next generation that being the youngest does not mean their voices matter any less. 💛
