@DanielOConnel18 “The club doesn’t end on incorporation”
Again, define the “club” you say existed before, but doesn’t end at incorporation. You’ve not done so yet.
What is it? What “doesn’t end”, in your words, once that new corporation/legal person has been formed?
@DanielOConnel18 This is where you're confusing things.
The unincorporated "club" ends at incorporation, we agree.
But the football club continues. Restructured. Agree?
@DanielOConnel18 "We already know what a club is legally - an association of members, with a constitution, membership list and a committee"
That only captures a football club in that unincorporated form, when in fact we all know FCs continue as the same entity even after going through incorportn
@DanielOConnel18@Bairdric1 "that was the end of the football club that was formed in 1872"
Here we are. Perfect example that sentence.
Define the entity that ended in 2012, and existed in 1872 decades before the legal person ie. Oldco, was formed.
@DanielOConnel18 What you've said doesn't account for the realities of a football club, existing before and after incorporation as a continuing entity. Spanning multiple legal entities often.
You can't say "this is what a football club is", then give a definition that doesn't cover that.
@DanielOConnel18@Bairdric1 Your defining a committee-type, unincorporated club there. Too narrow.
I'm asking about defining a football club to account for them spanning, typically, either multiple legal entities or extending back in time from its current corporate structure to before incorporation.
@DanielOConnel18@Bairdric1 Ok Daniel, petty stuff to one side. Engage the brain in defining a football club to account for the fact most (if not all) either span multiple legal entities, or extend back in time beyond them?
Should be a simple task but I'll hazard a guess you won't manage it & will pass
@maroonajambo Ok Andy, you're smart enough to put the grey matter to good use
How would you define a football club to account for the fact most (if not all) either span multiple legal entities, or extend back in time beyond them?
Not as simple a task as it sounds, is it?
@Alan_Morrison67@DAaronovitch Alan, you’re a passionate Celtic
man whose formative years coincided with Rangers winning about 40 trophies through, in your mind, dastardly means.
Can we drop the pretence that the “role of media & governance” is what is floating your boat here?
@Alan_Morrison67@DAaronovitch "Trust neither will be the case in England?"
As a guy who does his research Alan, you'll be well aware countless clubs have survived asset transfers/company liquidations in English football over the years
Selective amnesia still an issue, eh? Pity.
@5liveSport Rangers were not liquidated as your OWN standards committee concluded at the time. ⬇️
Who is editing this programme @5livesport to allow these standards to be chucked in the bin?
Feeling very flat after that tonight, just a rotten game 🏴🇨🇭
Not sure how much we can really judge or say we've learned from that given the early red and goal? But we never got anywhere near them at all. A complete training session. Pocognoli's first home game a bit of a write-off 👎
Now we really must go and perform in these next two games.
Send in your thoughts for our pod recording on Wed morning.
Thought McBurnie had a really good first half.
