Judge Doc Morgan has issued an order in the Mallory Beach civil conspiracy case against gas station mogul Greg Parker RECUSING himself from the case altogether.

Parker is accused of conspiring to release confidential court materials — including pictures of Mallory's dead body — in an effort to weaken the resolve of the Beach family in persevering with the boat crash case.

In the past few weeks, we've gotten realllllll PESKY on @cupofjustice and True Sunlight Podcast about how Judge Morgan's clerk had worked as an intern for Debbie Barbier, who is one of Parker's attorneys. This intern worked at her small law firm when she was actively working on this case.

That intern-turned-clerk sent out an email to all parties letting them know he had received a thumb drive of information and that he'd let them all know if he had any trouble accessing it.

After that email went out, Judge Morgan told the parties about the clerk and his past association with Barbier. He acknowledged the potential conflict and inquired about whether the Beaches had a problem with this.

They did.

Given the circumstances and tenor of this case (and the toxicity of the boat crash case, which what brought them here), they felt it was at the very least an APPEARANCE of bias ... which would necessitate a recusal.

But the judge did not immediately recuse himself.

And it seemed like a realllllll repeat of the Good Ole Boy nonsense we've all become so utterly aware of over the past three years courtesy of the crown prince of judicial darkness, Alex Murdaugh.

Anyway, this is great news for South Carolina — a state where judicial misconduct and other shenanigans seem to thrive and survive. Over and over.

Judge Morgan did the right thing. He did the thing that Greg Parker and his attorneys would've demanded of him had the intern worked at Gooding and Gooding before becoming his clerk.
