It’s been a LONG time since I last Tweeted but I’m having a great time at the @NJCTENews Spring Conference (even though I had to set my school day alarm to get here on time) #njcte23
@thereadingzone The Beast of Cretacea by Todd Strasser came out a few years ago but is an awesome science fiction retelling of Moby Dick! (Strasser actually calls it cli-fi — climate fiction!)
@kathyulrich Some MG -
StarCrossed by Barbara Dee
Drum Roll, Please and Hazel’s Theory of Evolution by Lisa Jenn Bigelow
Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake
The Deepest Breath by Meg Grehan
Queer, There, and Everywhere, a nf book about famous queer people through time!
@GiftedTawk My Ss get #SlothFacts and jokes. I set up gmail aliases that send a sloth fat or joke video when Ss show or tell me something. It looks like a reward, but really a way to recreate a digital form of an interaction we would have organically in class- https://t.co/mD8LoOaEpk
I’m flipping through my old writer’s notebook from methods class in 2016 before I show students the disaster that is this composition notebook (writing is messy!) and WOW. It’s like a different person filled these pages. I’m glad I held onto it.
I maaaaay have written a page-long freewrite under the doc camera today about Prince Zuko and the turtleducks’ role in his redemption arc, so if my students didn’t have a perfectly clear idea of who I am before...
@Ms_Caliendo I have afternoon virtual sessions that I can use to schedule conferences with kids - we only started them today but I had a lovely prelim conference with one student. Unfortunately, they’re optional so I suspect I’ll have a lot of no-shows :/
@mscollinsreads @teacher2teacher@ncte You can make a Google Slides presentation with a the books you’d like them to take a look at! You can also make it editable and so Ss can add to it over time.
