Whether by gun violence or police brutality, Black people in America face the threat of being killed everyday merely for existing. George Floyd’s horrifying death is another example of deeply rooted racism and bias perpetuated against people of color in this country.
"Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Dreasjon (Sean) Reed, and George Floyd were our neighbors," writes the ELCA Conference of Bishops in a statement reaffirming the ELCA's commitment to combat racism and white supremacy.

2019 Churchwide Assembly was indeed an example of what it means to be “We are Church”. Spirit filled sermons, worship, Lutheran debate and decision making. Dear Church we pray that you will embrace the Churchwide Assembly decisions with appreciation, support and understanding.
@TheKylerMurray Kyler, I grew up in Tulsa and have been a longtime OU fan. Congrats on winning the Heisman. I am equally proud of your apology. You cut to the chase and apologized for tweets that were not appropriate based on your standards.
Finished a week of inspiration #ELCAYG2018 that strengthens my love and hope for the future of this church. Thanks to our youth, adults and legion of volunteers who reinforced God’s presence in Houston and the world. #elcayg2021
