you’re not making a fair criticism – you’re repeating an old antisemitic prejudice. You’re not judging individual actions; you’re condemning an entire people just because we are Jewish. That is antisemitism.
As a Jew, I believe that the Jewish people are a “chosen people” in the sense that we have a special covenant with God and a responsibility to live by His commandments: to pursue justice, to repair the world, and to bring more goodness and holiness into it. That doesn’t mean Jews are perfect or above criticism, and it doesn’t mean everything any Jew does is automatically right. It means we see our history and our identity as being tied to God’s will and to a mission of ethical living.
You’re free not to share that belief. But if you judge us only by stereotypes and hatred, instead of by our actions and our humanity, that says more about your prejudice than it does about us.
