@CGaliszewski has our kiddos thinking deeper with Philosophical Chairs. Should students get to choose their own teachers? Good thoughts abound (and most think NOT choosing is a good thing 😮)

One of my favorite activities that @VickieReads taught me is the Written Discussion. Today, we looked at German WWII propaganda, broke it down, and then analyzed the claims. These kids are superstars! #NeverForget#ReadingIsLIT
We began our gallery walk through ID cards from the @ushmm website today. Our 8th-graders are reading informational text about the lives before and after the Holocaust. #NeverForget#GalleryWalk#HolocaustEducation
Using text evidence to figure out who kidnapped the student teacher. 8th-grade ELA students have had the best time using RI.8.1 skills (so many have said "This is so much fun!")
I'm thoroughly enjoying being with @NCASCnew as a staff member this week. Watching middle and high school #StuCo students work and learn and laugh from across the state is the highlight of my summer
As much work as this is, I wouldn't trade the happiness of those kiddos for the world. @EMMSStuCo were rock stars. And thank you to all the staff who chipped in!
Glad I got the opportunity to step out of my little world of ELA to observe other masters of their craft. 8th grade band was amazing on their pass offs today. I love the positive feedback; I'm going to be more consistent with this in my own classroom.
We had a great time learning and using one of our new vocab games as a formative assessment for our quiz tomorrow. Check out Core 3 using Vocab Pyramid. Thanks @KennyMcKee for the great strategy.
Students who have morpheme instruction has a positive effect on students' vocab retention and motivation. Plus, I realized the devastation of not getting top 5 on Kahoot
