Calling all child psychologists & mental health experts 👋 I'm researching solutions to social media's impact on teen mental health. What interventions have you seen actually work? #TeenMentalHealth#EM203Robin#EM203Problem
@JonHaidt as a student researching social media's impact on teen mental health — do you think school-based digital literacy programs are the most effective solution? Would love your insight! #EM203Robin#EM203Problem
A solution starts with US! Built-in tools like Screen Time help teens set limits & take back control. But systemic change is needed too. WHO reports problematic social media use in teens jumped from 7% to 11% in just 4 years 😳 #EM203Robin#EM203Problem https://t.co/gWgJD8Gc1m
Excessive social media screen time is damaging to teen mental health. It’s leading to increasing anxiety, depression & loneliness. We need better digital literacy education & boundaries to protect the next generation. #EM203Robin#EM203Problem
This is so true and it’s important that we also consider whether social media is causing these issues or simply amplifying challenges students are already experiencing. #EM203Robin
A problem identified in my peer's concept map is that students who use social media frequently suffer from stress, fatigue, distraction, and general feelings of isolation as well as negative impacts on their physical and mental health. #EM203Robin
Barriers to services further reinforce the homelessness cycle. When shelters operate at capacity and long-term supports are limited, individuals face systemic obstacles that make sustained stability challenging. #EM203
The housing crisis is not just about availability, but affordability. When rent consumes most of a person’s income, even minor financial setbacks can lead to housing instability and increased vulnerability to homelessness. #EM203
Building on my peer’s homelessness concept map. 3 major problems are the housing crisis & lack of affordable units, precarious employment and low wages, and limited access to support services. Together, these interconnected factors make exiting homelessness extremely difficult.
@EM203TayHolmes Hi Taylor. I definitely agree. The variety in course work and activites assigned to us is a great way ti emcompass the course as a whole as it really allows us to see that learning is not always a linear process
@EM203CARTER Hi Carter. This is soo important! Not only is this course not about remembering facts, but learning shouldnt be either. I definitely feel liej we share similar sentiments and this majes me not only look inwardly at how i learn, but also others.
@EM203ZMahmood Hi Zareef, I definitely agree that it’ super important for us to keep in mind both the positive and negative sides of digital media. I feel like keeping these in mind is what will help us be able to accurately learn what resources are actually beneficial to us vs not.
@EM203rashad Hi Rashad, this is such a relevant connection to our lessons and the real world. It’s so true that media is so intertwined in our everyday lives in ways that we dont always think about right away.
I have loved the first 3 lessons of this course. I specifically found the most recent lesson super relevant. I feel like this overload of the 3 M’s is a direct contributor to the decline in attention spans that has been observed recently through media consumption. #EM203Robin
