@QcWynter The Arday, postmodern type is rooted in former teacher-training colleges that have become universities. There was an older, empirically-based 'sociology of education' that had a perfectly sensible and clearly-expressed focus on class inequality etc.
@NeilThin Ironically, PhDs are supposed to be focussed exercises in originality - new contributions to the discipline. Instead, these are just examples of the academy eating itself. Postmodernism has a lot to answer for.
