⚽ The countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ is on! Coinciding with America’s 250th birthday, President Trump is committed to making this the greatest sporting event in world history. #FWC26
A memorable evening celebrating the historic 250th anniversary of America's independence. As President Trump stated, “With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history.” We are honoring this milestone through #Freedom250, a series of events highlighting our nation’s founding values and the spirit of freedom and innovation that continue to shape the United States and our enduring partnership with Bangladesh.
To mark America's 250th anniversary, we are launching 50 red, white, and blue rickshaws to honor American independence and highlight the strong U.S.-Bangladesh partnership.
Today, 419 years ago, more than 100 men completed a grueling 144-day voyage from the countryside of England to Virgina where they established Jamestown—the first permanent English settlement in the New World. By the end of the first year, only 38 of the original 104 men had survived. Yet Jamestown endured and the American spirit of courage, strength, and determination was born.
One of the greatest technological achievements of the 19th century was the completion of the first railroad across the entire United States. On this day in 1869 the final “Golden Spike” was driven into the railroad thus uniting the East Coast of the United States with the West Coast. From then on, someone could travel the entire length of America in a week rather than in months.
Today, our Nation proudly commemorates the 81st anniversary of the Allied Powers’ triumph over national socialism and fascism, and the end of World War II in Europe—one of the most epic victories for forces of freedom in the history of the world. On this Victory Day for World War II, we commit to protecting our sacred birthright of liberty against all threats, foreign and domestic.

Pleased to showcase the work of Bengali artists SM Sultan, Shahid Kabir, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Rokeya Sultana, Maqsuda Iqbal Nipa, Kazi Ghiyasuddin, and Anisuzzaman Anis through the Department of State’s Art in Embassies program at my residence. Great meeting the team from Bangladesh’s Criminal Investigation Department. The growing U.S.-Bangladesh partnership led to Bangladesh's largest cryptocurrency recovery and strengthened Bangladesh's ability to protect the citizens of both our countries from cyber-crime. U.S. training and technical support, alongside cooperation from U.S.-based blockchain company OKX, helped Bangladesh law enforcement identify and recover $3.7 million in crypto funds scammed from Bangladeshi citizens, and return it to the victims.
The Department of State has paused the issuance of immigrant visas to nationals of 75 countries, including Bangladesh, whose immigrants have a high rate of collecting public assistance at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer. Nonimmigrant visas, including tourist and student visas, are not impacted by this pause.
