Katie Duong is the subject of two of my favorite photos by @mlakephoto this season (pictured here in @MNAuroraFC's 5-0 win v Bavarian on 6/20).
Now she's headed to DC to play for Fred Brillant in the Super League.
I asked CanWNT/XNT player Vanessa Gilles, who plays in France for Olympique Lyonnais, about the recent French elections.
Her words are worth sharing. 🇫🇷⚽️
This would leave just 2 of 12 WSL clubs with English female managers (CPFC & WHUFC), 6 of the 12 from abroad plus LCFC have vacancy, linked with French female. It’s v expensive for women to get FA coaching badges without well paid careers. Plus support issues. Needs more debate.
FIFA has confirmed that Olympic alternates can replace a player from the 18 for medical reasons, then the originally rostered player can return to the 18 if medically cleared. They have to return for that same alternate **unless** there is another injury.

It’s a testament of how eager Northeast Ohio fans are to support women’s sports and how ready we are to show up for a women’s soccer team. Thousands of more fans have supported this team in ways other than pledging. That 14K barely scratches the surface of what’s possible here.”
The aspiring D3 WoSo league @WPSLPRO has announced a letter of intent from a group in NE Ohio. The group is led by Gina Prodan Kelly, who is also the marketing lead for @cleprosoccer , an aspiring @nwsl club.
Through my work in the women’s game and life as a soccer fan, I’ve seen and felt how passionate Northeast Ohio fans are about women’s sports and women’s soccer. I also know there’s an opportunity gap in our current soccer system on the women’s side, but not for a lack of talent.
The WSL is the best league in the world, we want our English players to play with and against top players. But how do we protect some of the spots for English talent? But also how do we develop, as an ecosystem, players who are ready to play at the highest level?
I made my first foray into writing about women’s football!
I’ve penned an open piece about the importance of disability representation in the beautiful game over on @beyond_pitch. https://t.co/xjuuP5lVrq
If you have worked in women’s sports and have a story of workplace toxicity or abuse you want to share, on or off the record, my DMs are open and email is in bio. Can grant anonymity. Love to all.
