Promoting Equality and Inclusion for people with disabilities: In Careers, Society and as Students: In School, Higher Educ and Profess-training/Medical Educ
@EHRC Perhaps it’s time too to launch an investigation into the unethical and overt discrimination towards students with disabilities by @warwickuni.
They have little or no regard for the legal and ethical requirements of the #EqualityAct and harrass students who speak out about it
"I just want him to come home. "Mark was never ill, never off school, never off work and he had never been in hospital. Now he's a crippled wreck of a man with his bones sticking through his ribs, unable to walk"

Poverty is harming children’s capacity to learn and it’s getting worse, suggests a survey of teachers. “I try to teach my phonics group as I am giving others cereal to eat,” one teacher told researchers. > I think “Make Poverty History” needs resurrecting https://t.co/EiDCSmOJFU
I’m going to just say this quick: disabled people don’t owe you answers to your questions about them. It’s not on us to teach you. If you ask a disabled person a question about their disability & they don’t feel like answering you, walk away.
“My child was given to me deaf, so we all sign at home. I don’t believe you should ever force a deaf child to be oral.”
- a hearing parent during an IEP meeting
I will never ever forget how disabled kids have been treated by this Government, I will never stop until every kid in my son's class has an equal chance at success as the kids of those who sit on the benches opposite to me. What if this were your child?
Saddened to hear of the death of Mike Oliver. Not only did he help to change the way we think about disability, he also helped establish disability studies as an academic discipline. We all all owe him a huge debt.
