When severe weather happens we NEED your storm reports! Real time reports are important, but you should always put your safety first. When reporting, make sure to include the time and location! Here are the ways to send your reports! #SevereWeatherAwarenessWeek
Damaging thunderstorm winds are also called straight-line winds & can cause the SAME type of damage as a tornado. Loose objects can become airborne and DANGEROUS. You are safest indoors, away from windows, in an interior room. Learn more at: https://t.co/dxJzjfT0u8 #WeatherReady
Most lightning-related deaths occur when people are having fun outside. If you hear thunder or see lightning, IMMEDIATELY seek shelter in an enclosed building or vehicle!
⚡Remember, When Thunder Roars Go Indoors! https://t.co/jFs1i6yD0i #SevereWeatherAwarenessWeek#txwx
We will have another SKYWARN class this evening in Waxahachie, TX. If you're in Ellis County area, join us to learn more about storm development/structure and review of severe threats. Class starts at 7 pm and it is free and open to anyone!
Stay aware of possible severe weather when on the road! If you receive a tornado warning while on the road, the best option is to drive to a designated shelter or sturdy building. Do NOT shelter under an overpass, as this puts you at a greater risk of being hit by debris.
Before heading to bed when nighttime tornadoes are expected...
✅Charge/turn on your phone
✅Enable Wireless Emergency Alerts
✅Have additional ways to receive warnings, such as a NOAA Weather Radio
✅Keep a flashlight & shoes handy
✅Know where your safe space is
