Open Letter to The President Regarding Impending Shortages of Electricity...

Dear Mr. President,
Feeding our electricity hungry nation is a National defense and US economic imperative. Most industry pundits are grossly under estimating the impending requirement for significantly more electricity - which will be greatly in excess of twice what our utility grids are presently capable of, with little hope that they will keep up supply with the pace of this growth in demand via the current grid architecture.

The solution, as some are beginning to realize, is an 'all-hazard-protected' distributed generation, using all practical and economic technologies. This includes modular nuclear, clean natural gas, hydrocarbon and hydrogen fuel cells, and a host of renewables including solar, geothermal, micro-hydro and others, buffered by electricity storage to provide uninterruptable power surety.

There are no "silver bullets" in this growing list of generation sources. So, what is needed is a transformative architecture that can seamlessly combine all reasonable distributed resources. That solution lies in distributed and locally interconnected microgrids. But while our utilities are expert in central generation and hub & spoke electricity distribution, they are generally ill-suited to take on the build-out of this distributed multi-mode generation and locally deployed and operated infrastructure alone. Much like personal and distributed computers enabled a new information world via the Internet, microgrids will enable massive and rapid addition of electric generation and distribution via an Enernet of electric energy, the essential ingredient of commercial growth and National defense, the combination of which will "Keep America Great" for decades to come via an assured dominant economy.

While AI is the new electricity hungry application being focused on, it is just the beginning when it comes to future electricity demand. As Einstein wisely opined, information without the ability to act on it is worthless. 'Acting' on the additional genius of AI will take energy, typically electricity, to run factories, transportation, healthcare, home automation, and so much more, as the innovation unbridled by inexpensive and abundant electricity supply will drive our economy and international leadership to unimaginable new heights.

I am not alone in making these observations and drawing these conclusions. Many like-minded technologists, entrepreneurs, government experts, academics, and common-sense people see the same thing. But as with many good things, we are burdened with the daunting weight of a siloed government bureaucracy, outdated regulatory handcuffs and a protectionist industry environment.

It is for that reason; we respectfully beg you to convene an America First National Summit to develop a fast-track roadmap and action plan to catalyze and guide our Nation in realizing this new direction to an Enernet (Grid of Grids) of electricity. Time is of the essence. The current strain on the existing 100+ year old grid is already starting to show the peril that lies ahead if immediate, albeit disruptive, action is not taken. Mr. President, you are the only leader with the capability of understanding this vital need and is in a position to avoid an otherwise ill-fated future for our country.

Please let me know if I, and other like-minded individuals and experts, can help in making this happen. We stand ready to work on this mission to "Keep America Great" by keeping her rich in the most useful form of energy we know, electricity.
