Registrar of Tribunals Hon. Anne Asugah, joined by Chairpersons and Members of the Tribunals, lauded the Commission for its milestone decision to elevate two Tribunal Chairpersons to the Court of Appeal and five Chairpersons and Members to the High Court and Courts of Equal Status.
The Judicial Service Commission led by Vice Chairperson Hon. Isaac Rutto today attended the launch of the Tribunals Shared Services Centre in Nyeri County, the third such centre to open its doors, following Nairobi and Kisumu.
By bringing tribunal services together under one roof, duplication is eliminated, resources pooled, and it ensures that Kenyans across the wider Mount Kenya region can access justice with greater speed and ease.
JSC Commissioner & Chairperson of Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) Hon. Jacqueline Ingutiah, highlighted the progress made: In just three quarters, over 10,296 matters were filed across the 27 Tribunals that have transitioned to the Judiciary — and 10,699 were successfully concluded. Chief Justice directs judges to write rulings in English from June 1, 2026
The Chief Justice has issued a directive requiring all judges in South Sudan to write their judgments in English, effective June 1, 2026.
Hon. Lady Justice Esther Maina led an insightful session during the induction of newly appointed High Court Judges, unpacking the mandate and evolving jurisprudence of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division (ACEC).
The session highlighted asset recovery, preservation, and forfeiture of proceeds of crime, inter-agency collaboration, and the critical role of the Judiciary in strengthening accountability, integrity, and access to justice in corruption-related disputes.

When Erastus Munyefu Siranjofu told his son at the iconic Bukhungu Stadium on May 16, 1987, that he would be a judge one day, no one would have known the prediction would come true through sports.
On that day, Justice Benard Wafula Murunga, who was sworn in on Monday at State House, Nairobi, before President William Ruto, was barely twelve years old. He was attending the CAF Champions League (previously known as the Africa Champions Cup) match between AFC Leopards and Egyptian giants Al Ahly. Ingwe won 2-1.
