Truss didn't have "unfunded tax cuts", that a Leftist propaganda meme.
She declined to implement a tax (NI) rise, and proposed a small cut to an excessive rate that would likely have generated more tax revenues, not.
She also made a reckless promise to pay everyone's gas bills, at a cost that far outstripped the top rate tax cut. But even that wasn't what triggered the markets, it was the Bank of England deliberately starting the sale of gilts at the same time they knew her budget was happening, so they could blame the market reaction on her government.
@FUDdaily Fire the university regents, the Dean, the whole governing apparatus. Fund Jodrell Bank one more year.
If the university hasn't managed to fund it by then, fire the next cadre of regents.
It'll only take two or three rounds before there not a single DEI program funded.
@FUDdaily You need to balance this with recognition that Ukraine is pushing modern warfare through the biggest change since the jet engine with their drone tech.
Not saying you don't have a point. But needs balance.
@lfg_uk You're complaining about Leeds having to rely on buses and arguing for ... a bus on rail tracks running down the middle of the street?
Is this a parody account?
The clue was when @esrtweet said he had regression tests. He meant, he has a comprehensive set of such tests that he’s personally validated over many years as both correct and sufficient. This provides a clear and objective standard for “good answer” that LLMs are extremely capable at meeting. They struggle more in the absence of such support, and its absence is more common than its presence.
That, and the fact @esrtweet really knows his code and will prompt much more precisely than less skilful, knowledgeable and experienced coders.
@Frencheconomics "Median wealth" for the the UK is heavily skewed by the extortionate cost of housing.
If your exclude the notional value of the primary residence you will get a very different result. And the median American home is much larger than in the UK, despite being cheaper.
@ret_ward Why should gas pay a carbon tax but not solar (making PVs releases loads of toxic chemicals into the environment) or wind (which uses loads of concrete, a major source of CO2 emissions)?
Intermittent "green" energy is just grift.
@RoKhanna@RoKhanna for how many years do you think that would work out, even if you’re right? One? Maybe two? And then what?
Have you ever heard of killing the golden goose?
1/ NEW: The net zero economy is now supporting:
✅Over 1m jobs
✅£105bn in GVA
✅22,000 small businesses
This analysis from @CBItweets is a reminder that net zero is a great British success story. And exactly why this Government is doubling down.

@BraddrofliT That's not an argument in favour of taxing unrealised capital gains, it's an argument against taxing home owners on their unrealised property
@AI_Park_GB@HistoryBoomer How is it ”opposite”? I’ve genuinely never understood this. The Soviets said they were doing it “for the workers”. The Nazis said they were doing it “for the fatherland”. But what they actually did was pretty similar. Not identical, but how “opposite“?
Nationalise Morrisons, use it as the foundation for a new, publicly-owned grocery store selling high quality, affordable food. National-level version of the Mamdani plan in New York.
Need to think big in a world with repeated, major shocks to essential supply systems.
@cthulhupotamus@DailyMail Strikes are good. If the hidden enemy chooses to self-identify, that's great. UK isn't a perfect analogy to post-Soviet: no secret police files identifying complicit officials, less public support. Strikes would give us both. @cthulhupotamus
@cthulhupotamus More than that, Reform's biggest weakness is also its opportunity.
Reform has a policy _posture_, but not a policy programme. Directionally they're sound; details tbd.
That's fixable by anyone with a really solid plan.
Tory wets are wedded to their old ways; unfixable.
