Since half of all the energy consumption in Europe is used for heating and cooling buildings, and 80% of all buildings we will live and work in by 2050 are already built, it’s obvious where we should put our energy optimisation focus.

France aim to grow it’s market share of district heating from today’s 7% reaching 20% by 2030, focusing on implementing renewable resources. To support the transition, financial support via Le Fonds Chaleur allots 250 million euros per year. That’s an action plan worth cheering.
The Duchère district heating network (Lyon-Rhône-Alpes) will be extended to supply heat to 200,000 homes by the end of 2022. #districtheating

ENERTHERM SAS, a subsidiary of IDEX, is investing 25 million euros in a biomass plant at the Paris-La Défense heat network in order to increase the rate of green energy in its energy mix to at least 50%. https://t.co/sQOUCiJVeD
Digitalisation may be the most powerful, scalable tool we have to tackle climate change.
As an accelerator, studies show it has the potential to reduce global emissions by up to 12% by 2030. Half of that reduction could be made in the energy sector. (Source: SMARTer2020 report)
Post-covid governments should fuel climate changing innovation (the way they fueled vaccine development in 2020).
With financial return all but guaranteed, the corporation will be liberated to throw massive resources at ultra-fast climate-supporting investments. It’s urgent.
