جمهوری اسلامی تا اندازه‌ای اطمینان دارد که آمریکا رغبتی به ورود به جنگ ندارد و اسرائیل هم، اگر تنها بماند، با محدودیت‌هایی روبه‌روست. تهران همچنین می‌داند که حملات هوایی، به‌تنهایی، نه توانسته‌اند ساختار جمهوری اسلامی را از بین ببرند و نه لزوماً به تغییر رفتار پایدار آن منجر شده‌اند. همین وضعیت، اعتمادبه‌نفس تاکتیکی جمهوری اسلامی را بالا برده است.

اما این فقط نوک کوه یخ است. جمهوری اسلامی در داخل، نامشروع، فرسوده و آسیب‌پذیر است. اقتصاد فلج است، جامعه زیر فشار انباشته قرار دارد و وضعیت سیاسی، اقتصادی و اجتماعی شبیه فنری فشرده است. مدیریت یک درگیری خارجی، حتی اگر در تبلیغات رسمی به‌عنوان «اقتدار» فروخته شود، الزاماً به افزایش مشروعیت داخلی ترجمه نمی‌شود.

جمهوری اسلامی بیش از آنکه از بمب‌های خارجی بترسد، از لحظه‌ای می‌ترسد که مردم ایران قوی‌تر از همیشه نشان دهند: دیگر بس است!

در جهان واقعی اما برای بازیگران «قدرت» مهم تر از «ایران» است و «گفتگو» را آنقدر یاد نگرفتیم تا دیر شد.
