🛶 Boats, sampling crews, and survey equipment are now active in various locations along the Hudson River as EPA gathers data to support the cleanup of the Quanta Resources Superfund site in Edgewater, New Jersey.
Over the next several months, crews will collect sediment samples, map the river bottom, and inspect the pier structure at 115 River Road. This information will help us finalize the design of a cleanup that will remove contaminated sediment and help protect the Hudson River.

🌊Seas the data! 📊
EPA scientists are out in Barnegat Bay collecting seagrass measurements and water‑quality samples to understand how this ecosystem is changing.
🌱 Eelgrass is the dominant seagrass in the Northeast. It helps protect shorelines, keeps water healthy, and gives fish a place to live.
These on‑the‑water surveys give us the data needed to restore eelgrass, support wildlife, and protect Barnegat Bay. 🧪🌊

🚧 What’s happening at the Lehigh Valley Railroad Superfund site?
Cleanup work is moving forward near Gulf Road in LeRoy, New York.
This spring and summer, crews will remove old piping, collect more soil samples and prepare for additional removal of soil contaminated with TCE from the former spill area.
During the work, crews will monitor the air for dust and site contaminants. Contaminated material will be sent to an approved off-site disposal facility, and a soil cover will be placed over the area when the work is complete.
The work will continue in stages into fall 2026 under EPA oversight.
