The Brave and Selfless Act of Kendrick Castillo 🙏

On May 7, 2019, an ordinary afternoon at
STEM School Highlands Ranch turned into chaos.
Kendrick Castillo, 18, sat in class just three days before graduation when a student walked in with a gun. As panic spread and others rushed to hide, Kendrick moved in the opposite direction.
He charged the shooter.
Unarmed, he tackled him and pinned him against the wall, taking the first shots but refusing to let go. In those critical seconds, his classmates found a chance to escape.
Others joined in to help restrain the attacker
-but Kendrick had already taken the brunt of it.
He was the only student who lost his life that day.

Kendrick wasn't trained for moments like this. He was a student who loved robotics, his Jeep, and helping others. His father later said Kendrick had always believed he'd be the first to act in a crisis.
When the moment came, he did.
And because he did, others lived to see their futures. 🙏
