Our school's re-org has given us a great opp for more team building as we welcomed our new Grade 3s. We used Jamboard to participate in a virtual community circle. We later created another Jamboard to record our ideas and new learnings about Forces. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade

We took our learning outside today to gather data which we used to create pictographs. Some Ss gathered leaves to use as a reference when identifying trees in our community. We will digitize our data and create online surveys tomorrow. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade

In honour of Thanksgiving, we had a pumpkin pie taste test. We talked about adjectives as well as made connections to fractions and data management. We compared foods people enjoy now to foods people enjoyed when the early settlers came to Canada.🦃@tesslonglade @JamesPotterPS

their First Nations/Early Settler inquires. The G2's have been extending their understanding of where their families & ancestors have come from. We did some fall art using symbols of fall and taste tested a pumpkin pie! @tesslonglade @JamesPotterPS

We have been working on the reading strategy of visualization to build our reading comprehension skills. Today we read the poem "Green Giant" by Jack Prelutsky and drew pics using our imaginations, background knowledge and the content of the text. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade

Today we recognized #OrangeShirtDay2020 Beading has been an important part of First Nations culture for approx 8000 years. We made beaded chains with a word to describe how the victims of residential schools felt while being forced to attend. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade

G2 SS - We are learning about Changing Family and Community Traditions. Today we painted family portraits in the style of @toddparr. Ss chose colours they felt best represented qualities each family member possessed e.g., yellow = happy. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade

G3 SS - We are learning about communities in early Canada from 1780-1850s. Today we read a journal writen by a young Irish lad about his voyage to Upper Canada. Ss experienced the sights, sounds and feels Patrick experienced on his difficult journey. @JamesPotterPS @tesslonglade
