Emergency Vet

A day (or night) in the life of an Emerg Vet. WARNING: Not the touchy stuff you see on Animal Planet! General questions OK, Advice 4 ur pet NOT.

Nothing starts the new year off like 2 euthanasias. #tistheseason

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Ugh. Having to tell your best friends kid their dog has osteosarcoma- 😢😢😢

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Actually had a full week off, first night back, GDV. Of course.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

I could not work w/ humans! This lady in outpatient Sx next to us screaming about everything they need to do to her. Get some damn drugs!!

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

We've already had a brush with a tornado & my animals are all asleep, & business as usual. Why staying calm & training important.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

I can never stress enough how you staying calm impacts your pets. During emergency situations like #matthew pets will feel your anxiety.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Not really sure right now is a good time for @GVMAssociation to email about membership renewal, as i worry if #matthew wipes out my clinic.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

What we deal with: you "just" moved here with older dog w/ seizures so no reg vet, but have an established groomer to treat his eyes. 😕😠

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Man brings snakebite in, won't even pay for pain meds, turns to dog & says "guess we'll see how tuff you are." F'ing jerk.

[For Whom the Cowbell Tolls @mstatesports]

Do many MSU fans oppress those fans who express negativity as @JakeWim suggested? We take a look. https://t.co/4XSk9tvRVz

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

The amount of ppl that claim to leave their house with no ID, no $, no cards is amazing. 😕 Usually claim they have no one to call either.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

If u really thought ur dog was bitten by a snake 2 days ago, y the F would u wait?! I don't understand ppl!

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Man ppl suck. 2 patients that have been sick for over 3 days now in critical shape & owners still won't do anything. You come in?

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

@VetCF we usually only see the once, but do what we can do educate. I have had some repeat offenders tho. 😕

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

@VetCF all too common. So much easier to blame us than take responsibility. Why I don't take personal, but feel horrible for the pets.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

@VetCF always is. This time a Parvo puppy that the teen is "responsible" for w/ no Vax. How dare I tell her how bad the disease is.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

If u haven't taught ur teenager facts of life & death, u probably shouldn't bring them to an ER. Not our job to protect them from truth.

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

I've seen 6 heatstrokes in the past 2 wks from ppl traveling NY to FL w/ no A/C! We aren't just trying to scare u from coming down here!

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Attn NYers:it is HOT & HUMID in the south so Plz plan accordingly when you decide to travel to FL w/ pets! Meaning don't do it without A/C!

[Emergency Vet @ERDVM12]

Really sad the amount of ppl that refuse to treat older pets, & prefer to euthanize rather than treat minor issues for them.
