Bill Maher to JD Vance: “I’m just glad you're talking to me, you know? I mean, I say it every time, the Republicans come here and they take their beating like a man. It’s the people I vote for, they’re the ones who won't talk to me! That’s odd, isn’t it?”
Caller: “Hi Dave. Long-time listener. First-time caller.”
Dave: “You are on the show. What's going on?”
Caller: “I think billionaires have too much power.”
Dave: “Okay. What do you do?”
Caller: “I'm a Congressman.”
Dave: “Alright. Where are you from?”
Caller: “Silicon Valley.”
Dave: “The one with Apple, Google, Nvidia, Meta, OpenAI, and about half the companies carrying the stock market?”
Caller: “That's right.”
Dave: “Interesting. And what seems to be the problem?”
Caller: “The tech bro billionaires.”
Dave: “The guys who built the companies that made your district one of the wealthiest places on Earth?”
Caller: “Yes.”
Dave: “So let me get this straight. Your district keeps producing trillion-dollar companies, millions of jobs both directly and indirectly, and tools used by two-thirds of the people on earth.”
Caller: “Correct.”
Dave: “And your conclusion is that the people who built all of it are the problem.”
Caller: “Exactly.”
Dave: “What have you built?”
Caller: “I serve the public.”
Dave: “No, I mean built.”
Caller: “I write legislation.”
Dave: “Did you make the iPhone?”
Caller: “No.”
Dave: “Google Search?”
Caller: “No.”
Dave: “Nvidia chips?”
Caller: “No.”
Dave: “SpaceX rockets?”
Caller: “No.”
Dave: "So the entrepreneurs create the wealth and the politicians create the hearings?"
Caller: “That's not fair.”
Dave: “Congressman, every year your district creates more wealth than most countries. Why are you treating success like a crime scene?”
Caller: "We need to hold billionaires accountable."
Dave: "For what? Exceeding expectations?"
This type of misinformation is the reason why people outside the court were so upset. For instance, the claim that he was only a black boy under the tent is false. In fact, one black young man specifically refuted his defense and stated that he was the aggressor. I don’t know if this is purely willful ignorance or if they are intentionally trying to inflame a tragic situation, but at this point, I don’t care; it leads to the result.
The thought process of people like John C. Reilly goes like this:
- I have beliefs.
-My beliefs are empathetic.
-Empathy is the ultimate good.
-If your beliefs contradict mine, you must lack empathy.
-You are therefore evil.
And so they weaponize the word empathy to mark their opponents as evil, despite the fact that their beliefs are almost always shortsighted, contradictory, self-serving, and even vile at times.
That’s why most of us think “empathy” is a trap.
This is a wild victory lap.
Step 1 - essentially legalize all drugs - overdose deaths skyrocket.
Step 2 - Criminalize illicit drugs again - overdose deaths drop by half.
Step 3 - take credit only for step 2.
An insanely rigged economy is when someone can work in government their entire life, never produce anything of value, and end up a millionaire with three homes while bemoaning the “oligarchy.”
CBS had the murderer's family on as if they were the victims here. Insane.
Karmelo robbed a family of ever seeing their son graduate, find the love of his life, have children. And yet it's Karmelo's mother we are supposed to feel sorry for? No. 35 years wasn't harsh enough.
I find the 2 most insufferable group of people on the planet are lifetime educators and lifetime politicians. Both live in a fantasy world that lacks common sense and would not survive a day in the real world
Lots of people sticking up for teachers. I’m not talking about your local high school teachers. My mom was a teacher. I’m talking academia. Professors, administrators, deans etc. People who get a million degrees and but never work in real world. They suck
He’s dating Kim Kardashian, who has an estimated net worth of nearly $2 billion. He's worth nearly $500 million and lives in Monaco to avoid paying taxes in the UK.
Remarkable lack of self-awareness.
