Missouri Scoop offers up our condolences to the family and friends of Coach Stan Kee and the Carrolton Football community.
From Chik Miller via Facebook:
"A Sad day for all of us Carrollton Trojans. The passing of a Legend Coach Kee. You can count on one hand the men in your life that has made a difference in your life. One who can bring the best out of you, one who you have so much respect for, a father figure.
If it was on the football field. Red Rage or the old gravel track. Stride with Pride. Those things are installed in your heart and mind forever. All the former players now coaching, all of his players who went and played at the next level, the long list of
All State players. To all the other coaches he helped. Coach Kee is truly everywhere. To each and every home game we are blessed to be playing on the field that he is named after, and so much more. Are you hurt or are you injured. 3 things happen when you pass and two of them are bad. It did not matter if it was 5th and 6th grade football on a Saturday morning he was there. On the hill by the BBQ grill watching. At the Jr. High games. At practice you would look up that hill we all hated to run and there he was. Taking it all in. That weight room in the summers or the track in the spring.
Coach Brad Gaines said it best. The coaching world across the state of Missouri and especially in the Missouri River Valley Conference lost one of it's finest.
His players and fellow coaches loved and respected him so much. They don't make-em like Coach Kee anymore. Well said. We would eat nails for him. We believed in him and he brought the best out of all us. We will miss you Coach. Class of 91."
Football is hard. So is winning!
We’ve got a real problem —it’s just too easy to quit. The moment something gets hard, uncomfortable, or inconvenient, people walk away. We’re living in a comfort-first culture where how we feel has become more important than who we’re becoming. But growth doesn’t live in comfort—it lives in resistance.
That’s why I believe high school football is one of the greatest sports in the world. Because it’s hard. It demands discipline when you don’t feel like it. It requires toughness when everything in you wants to tap out. It teaches young men how to push through, and in today’s world, that lesson is more valuable than ever. We’re not just facing a comfort crisis—we’re facing a toughness crisis.
Here’s the truth most people won’t say: the first time you quit is the hardest. The second time gets easier. And before long, quitting becomes your default. Quitting is a habit—and like every habit, it spreads.
I know this because I lived it. As a freshman in college, I contemplated quitting football. It was hard. I was tired. I was homesick. I wanted out. But my dad wouldn’t let me. At the time, I didn’t fully understand it. I thought he was being tough on me. Now I realize—he was being right. He knew something I didn’t: I didn’t need easier, I needed stronger.
Because of that moment, I didn’t just stay in football—I built a life in it. For 32 years now, I’ve had the privilege of coaching and helping young men become tougher, more resilient, and more prepared for life. All because someone refused to let me quit.
So the question is simple: are you choosing comfort or growth? Are you building discipline or feeding excuses? Because at the end of the day, quitters quit—but those who stay, who fight, who endure… they become something different. And that difference shows up for the rest of their life.
Football is hard! Tough game played by tough people!

Weightroom testing days are the ultimate athletic lie detector. Did you do all your reps? "Yeah, Coach." It's separates the "Dids" from the "Didn'ts" like nothing else in our society.
Coaches aren't looking for football-only specialists. They want ATHLETES.
94% of last year’s 1st-round picks were multisport stars in HS.
Wrestling = leverage 🤼
