Most fun I've had with three dodgy guys in the dingy basement of a pub before lunchtime for a long time. You can hear a chat about our new book on party members with @christopherhope on @brexitbroadcast here: https://t.co/uKUYUQVmLD
We used a combo of surveys and @Twitter (in particular the [often horrified] reaction to @Keir_Starmer taking over from @jeremycorbyn) to look at why people quit their parties. It's free to read, so do have a look if you like that sort of thing. https://t.co/YDg1a85EY8
So @LibDems leadership election is on. In our last survey of the membership, we (@ESRCPtyMembers) found @EdwardJDavey a long way ahead of @LaylaMoran and @libdemdaisy BUT we also found a lot of don't knows/yet to make up their minds. @stephenkb reported: https://t.co/QqIZUXvOeF
@mattzarb@barnyskinner@hosta357@JohnDav96486557@simon_breakaway Just out of interest, do you think our @ESRCPtyMembers-commissioned @YouGov survey released at New Year made a difference in the sense of creating a so-called 'bandwagon effect'? Genuinely in two minds on the question so would love to know your opinion! https://t.co/N6ZOs7uCjt
The challenge for the next Labour leader is to appeal beyond members. Our first EVER #GoldGeekOfTheWeek goes to @ProfTimBale’s for his @ESRCPtyMembers project which shows the stark difference in values between Labour members and other voters. #Peston
M'colleague @PaulDWebb1 and I join the splendid @DArcyTiP on @BBCParliament's Booktalk to chat about Footsoldiers, our @ESRCPtyMembers book on Party Members (https://t.co/WP1vTILIWY). Fifteen mins of heaven obviously. https://t.co/GLg5QqfTZX
Some parties members are more active than others - off and online. "the Conservative Party is going to need all the paid-for Facebook ads, phone-banks, and leaflet-deliveries it can afford if it’s to come anywhere near matching its opponents’ efforts." https://t.co/O5B1ajUIlB
Co-author of Footsoldiers @ProfTimBale outlines the importance of polarisation in our political parties. Download your free chapter where the authors answer the question ‘Who are the members?’ https://t.co/nycznk4bNZ
Are the current political parties fit for purpose? Who joins, why they join and where the balance of power lies are all explored in this thoroughly researched and acutely observed new book. Recommended by @SamCoatesSky https://t.co/9rA05iE6xD Free Chapter: https://t.co/LyHEs3HjR4

"@ProfTimBale, @PaulDWebb1 and Monica Poletti are the leading authorities on what has been happening to membership of our political parties. This book is for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of why our politics has become so dysfunctional" @Peston https://t.co/p8TEWOVNVD
Hi @BBCr4today. Did I hear @JustinOnWeb quoting Quentin Letts on the age of @LibDems activists as 70??? Our @ESRCPtyMembers data shows Lib Dem members, at average age 50, are actually younger than those of other parties - and that generally middle-aged people are most active.
