Q1: Any #WeSpeechies able to help us with a supplier of triode electrodes for sEMG?
We’re hitting a brick wall in finding anyone in the UK who still produces and/or sells them.
Q2: has anyone tried using 3x single electrodes?!

Jess, one of our team leads, presented at the RCSLT conference today sharing their work on Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion . In part due to this work, she also recently won AHP Diversity champion of the year from our Trust. Well done, Jess!
Trust value: Respect ✅
Proud to launch this today, the first publication after many group meetings. Exciting to hear engagement during our drop in talk at lunch today and to see how it’s use evolves as we rollout the accompanying written guidance too.
See what we’ve been up to in our working group 🤩 Publications and useful tools on their way!
There is no progress without buy-in from allies, many thanks to @RCSLT for supporting our network and working group.

A common swallowing difficulty we encounter is mouth holding. This often occurs in Dementia when someone has less awareness or understanding of mealtimes and feeding.
Can you help us come up with top tips for helping mouth holding?

🫵🫵 touch can also be important for texture!
Some people benefit from sensory feedback that crunchy foods or finger foods give them serving as a reminder to continue chewing. Finger foods also boost dignity in independence
Texture modification can be advised by your SLT

Did you know chilling drinks can help? Room temp water could be confused for saliva 💦 in the mouth and therefore not be swallowed promptly
Placing an empty spoon to the lips or applying gentle pressure to the tongue when giving food can prompt a swallow
📢Answers to question 3 📢
Yoghurt - Level 4: Puree diet
Biscuits - Level 7: Regular diet
Banana - depends how it's prepared! Pureed? Mashed? Cut into small pieces? Scoffed in large mouthfuls?!
Cornflakes - Mixed consistency & high-risk! (Level 7: Regular diet)
How did you do?
❓Question number 3❓
Which IDDSI levels would the following be considered:

3. Banana (trick question...)
4. Cornflakes (BONUS POINT!)
The results are in! Most of you voted for poor oral hygiene- it’s definitely a significant factor but I have a confession… all four of these (plus more) were all found to be significant in Dr Langmore’s heavily cited paper from 1998 https://t.co/UA4IUKMS8y
