Been analyzing the NBA for 37 years and the Mavericks for the last 23. Now with Always on the lookout for good hoops, good times, cold brews.

Mavericks in a good one with OKC tonight. Cooper Flagg working on a monster game as Mavericks are up 82-71 late in the third. With the World Series over, flip over to the Mavs.

Mavericks' notebook: Dusty May glad to see continuity on the business side of the organization; plus Kyrie Irving's unseen asset.

The Mavericks benefited from Walter Clayton's return to Florida. His breakout was a major difference in the win over Miami.

He's a "bad dude," and his game-clinching drive proved it. Here's our updated story about the Mavericks' 113-109 win at Miami on Monday night.

For those glued to Cowboys game, the Mavericks are throwing together a silver-bullet effort and are up 104-97 with 4:52 left against the Miami Heat. Flagg, Giannis both having monster games.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

Mavericks up 95-93 with 8:13 left after five consecutive points by Florida native Walter Clayton Jr., who signed his two-way contract just last week. Mavericks are making it tougher on Giannis since his 3Q outburst.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

Daniel Gafford just got kneed where you definitely do not want to get hit as Giannis went high for the slam and Gafford tried to act like a barricade. Gafford went to the locker room. Heat are up 60-57.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

Sergio De Larrea suffered a right knee strain in the first half and is doubtful to return, per the Mavs.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

I stand corrected. Refs say it was a flagrant-1. Agree to disagree.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

Stoppage for a review of a dust-up when Tim Hardaway Jr. elbowed Daniel Gafford out of the way and Gafford reciprocated. Gafford put the hard foul on Giannis to ignite everything. Nothing flagrant about anything, to this eye.

I took a nap this afternoon, but didn't think I'd wake up in 1994. A rugged first quarter ends with Heat up 27-23 and points are not coming easy. Giannis with 7-5-3 for Heat. Cooper Flagg with 4-3-5 for Mavericks. Mavs shot just 29 percent, but stayed close.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

It's 15-8 Mavericks with 8 minutes left in the first and all the Mavericks have scored, except for Cooper Flagg, who has four assists.

A few Mavericks fans made their way into Kaseya Center.

Cooper Flagg upgraded to probable after shootaround.

Coop getting up shots at shootaround this morning.

[Eddie Sefko @ESefko]

Mavericks have started the season slowly, but they are positively rabbit-like compared to Monday's opponent.
