•Ethereum (ETH) developers proposed a hard fork to reverse the theft and restore funds.

•A faction opposed, saying:
“Code is Law — even if there’s a bug, the blockchain history must not be rewritten.”

•That faction continued the original, unaltered chain → Ethereum Classic.

2. Trust in the System, Not in Humans

•ETC argues that if people can change the blockchain for “good reasons,” it sets a precedent that they can change it for political or economic interests too.

•Immutability ensures the rules are predictable and neutral.

3. Censorship Resistance

•No authority should censor, reverse, or override transactions.
