An Ethiopian delegation headed by Daniel Tenkir, Deputy Permanent Representative of #Ethiopia to the @_AfricanUnion and @ECA_OFFICIAL , participated in the 3rd Joint Annual Consultative Meeting between the AU Peace and Security Council (#AUPSC) and the #ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council (MSC), held in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 29–30, 2026, under the theme: “Deepening Regional Collaboration towards Attaining More Effective Financing for Peace Support Operations in Africa.”

During the meeting, Daniel emphasized the importance of securing adequate, predictable, sustainable and timely financing for AU Peace Support Operations, noting that UNSC Resolution 2719 remains the most viable mechanism for achieving sustainable and predictable funding and calling for its full implementation. He also stressed the need to strengthen Africa’s financial independence by mobilizing continental resources to support peace operations.
