"Pleased to meet with former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and his team. We are grateful to the 73-member African Union Election Observation Mission, led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, for its service and contribution to our democracy-building process.
African institutions play a central role in ensuring that democratic processes are grounded in regional context and experience. We recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of the electoral observers, who deployed teams across the country to support our electoral process, and look forward to the outcomes.

Today, we officially inaugurate the new Negele Borena Geda Airport, and Ethiopian Airlines’ 24th domestic destination. Built to host advanced aircraft like the Boeing 737 Max, this modern station will immediately launch three weekly flights to catalyse local commerce, cross-border trade, and tourism. Every new runway we build bridges a gap, unlocks regional economic potential, and brings our people closer together. Our national flag carrier and pride of Africa now in its 80th year is indeed “The New Spirit of Africa!”

Monday 25 May 2026, Addis Ababa.
Today, I had the privilege of speaking at the Africa Day celebration organized by the African Union in Addis Ababa.
Africa Day serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience of Pan-Africanism, the sacrifices made by our forebears, and our collective aspiration for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa.
As the continent continues to advance, we must deepen collaboration, empower our youth, modernize our economies, and pursue the ambitions of Agenda 2063.
In an era marked by global uncertainty, Africa holds immense potential to emerge as a driving force for sustainable development, renewable energy, and stronger international partnerships.
Together, let us strive to make Africa a true tree of life, bringing opportunity, dignity, and prosperity to all its people.
"HAPPY AFRICA DAY TO ALL OUR AFRICAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
63 years ago, our forefathers gathered right here in Addis Ababa and dared to dream of a free, united Africa, and that dream still burns bright.
Today, as the proud home of the African Union, Ethiopia stands shoulder to shoulder with every African nation in that same spirit of unity. The work is far from over. Let us move from words to action, from promises to progress.
Africa's greatest resource has always been her people, and together, WE RISE!"
