JUST IN: A federal judge put Trump's $1.7 billion slush fund on notice.

Judge Richard Leon pressed DOJ lawyers to put in writing that the fund isn't moving forward. When asked why they wouldn't, the DOJ's answer was: "I don't know."

The fund survived today's hearing, but the judge delivered a pointed warning to the DOJ: if the administration is telling the court the fund is not moving forward, then it better not move forward.

Welch: It’s pretty bizarre. He does not get what’s happening with everyday people. This is happening because of the war. He made a unilateral decision to go to war. He said yes to Netanyahu, and he said no to his own advisers.

He’s flailing, and there are no negotiations. It’s really about the president trying to get a face-saving outcome so he can make the assertion that we’re better off, but we’re nowhere.

Coons: The deputy director of national intelligence is a capable professional. He should be the acting DNI.

Pulte is not a capable professional. He doesn’t have a clearance. He’s never worked in intelligence. It makes no sense for Trump to try to jam an unqualified person into a position overseeing 18 different intelligence agencies at exactly the moment that Trump’s illegal war against Iran is heightening the risk of a terrorist attack.

I will only support a short-term extension if a qualified intelligence professional is the acting DNI.
