Planning tips for effective election coverage: The Media Council of Kenya has reached out to Sauti ya Matumaini Radio in Vihiga County to review and assist in harmonizing the station’s plans and schedules for effective election coverage on the election day.
Planning is essential for effective election coverage. Election coverage in a media house is not anyone’s exclusive preserve but a team’s concerted effort.
Each media house needs to develop a working model based on localized realities and therefore allocating responsibilities and resources, developing a schedule, and a checklist is inevitable. Be aware of contingencies and emergencies.
Information integrity is very critical during the election period. Journalists have a responsibility to ensure they share accurate and verifiable information.
Polls Preparation: Together with .@Internews we engaged journalists from Sky FM and Radio Lake Victoria on election coverage guidelines where our Kisumu Regional Coordinator .@ETeddy_O urged them to uphold core values and principles of journalism wholesome.
2022 Polls: The critical place of accurate information and professional media were pointed as central at our meeting with .@UNDP Resident Representative .@Walidbadawi today to finalise implementation plans for media support and public information during the 2022 General Election.
