MJ, we want you to be safe. We continue to monitor criminal activity occurring just outside our community in the Nashville area, where armed car burglars are targeting vehicles while carrying firearms, often searching for guns left inside vehicles and looking for opportunities to steal cars.

While Mt. Juliet remains a very safe community, and our officers work hard every day to protect this city, we are not immune to crime. These incidents are happening only minutes from our city limits, and offenders can easily travel into neighboring communities.

The video/story shared below from the Hermitage area on June 4 highlights the type of activity occurring nearby. These crimes are still occurring. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and immediately call police if you observe suspicious activity or a crime in progress. The sooner we are notified, the better opportunity officers have to respond, locate suspects, and make arrests before they leave the area.

You can help protect yourself and your neighborhood by:
• Locking your vehicles
• Removing valuables from your vehicle
• Never leaving firearms inside unattended vehicles
• Turning on porch lights and exterior security lighting
• Reporting suspicious activity promptly
